Animal Checklist

"knowing what I saw"

Planning this trip I was already focussing on seeing as much animal species as possible. But it was during the trip that it became a true obsession. Always looking up to see birds flying in the sky and looking down to spot snakes and frogs on the ground. I was constantly looking at everything that moved. After a day of taking pictures and hiking or diving I’d look up the animals I saw using animal charts you can buy there, using the internet or asking the guides. After a while I became familiar with a lot of animals and I could spot some species by there sound or by there shape and beheviour. For me as a wildlife photographer I not only find it interesting to shoot the picture but it’s also interesting knowing what I saw and learning more about that animal. Having some knowledge of animal behavior gives you an advantage of knowing where to find them and when you get the biggest change of seeing them.

Coming back home I still had lots and lots of pictures of animals that I hadn't named yet. After going through all of them I made a selection and divided them in different groups like Birds, Reptiles, Butterflies and so forth. After that I tried looking them up on the Internet. I Spend hours and hours looking through websites comparing there pictures with the pictures I got hoping I found the right one. Today the list is still far for finished so finding the rest is a work in progress. Feel free to help me finish it if you can name the ones I haven’t got or I got wrong!

The pictures on the mobile version of the website are not online yet. I will add them in the next couple of weeks. If you want to see the pictures you must visit the normal version of the website
